College sports fans are familiar with the dynasties on the field, the court, the ice, the diamond and the pitch. But what about the immense level of skill at the alley? That would be the bowling alley to be more specific, where the Nebraska women’s team has put together on of the most dominant runs in any sport in college history.
Honing their craft at Husker Bowling Center, the team has been posting strikes and wiping out pins at an incredible rate. They won the national championship in 2021, but have been a force to be reckoned with for a long time.

The title that the Cornhuskers just secured was their 13thin school history, and they won their first title in 1990. Despite the tremendous level of success, a lot of students and alumni aren’t too familiar with how dominant the women’s bowling team has been. Usually, Cornhusker basketball and football gets most of the attention. Junior Kendyl Hofmeister recalled a scenario that underscores just how under the radar their team is, where older alumni did not know about their success.
“I’m like, ‘how do they not know?’ I mean, they have like all this Husker gear on,” she said. They have a bumper sticker on their car that says #1 Nebraska fan and they still don’t know that bowling team won. Via NebraskaPublicMedia.org
Nebraska women’s bowling and volleyball have actually logged higher average winning percentages in the last five years than the football program, and the men’s and women’s basketball teams.
In the 2022 season, the Cornhuskers are already off to a flying start. They finished first out of 16 teams in their first three tournaments, and finished third in their most recent tournament in early January. Senior Cassidy Ray was named to the all tournament team with her strong conclusion to the event.
