Search for Speed, is a USA Cycling initiative designed to introduce track cycling to a wider, more diverse audience throughout Los Angeles and the Southern California area. Search for Speed provides young adults with a clear, dedicated pathway to the U.S. National Cycling Team and sport of track cycling.
The Search for Speed
The new 2024 Open Combine format for the Search for Speed program has made it easier than ever for a young athlete to be discovered by USA Cycling. An upcoming in-person Open Combine will be hosted on February 3 - 4, 2024, in LA.
This, open-to-all combine, is designed to empower athletes from diverse sporting backgrounds, while offering a unique platform for showcasing individual athletic prowess. Geared towards explosive strength, speed, and raw power, USA Cycling combines are designed to elevate and celebrate fast twitch athleticism across the spectrum. Day One of the combine includes an agility test, a vertical jump, a 40 yard dash, and a 6-second wattbike peak power test. Day Two will include a structured wattbike test of a single duration that includes designated on-off times.
Chasing Gold
NBC will be present over the two days of the combine and will be filming for their series: Chasing Gold. This is a great opportunity for athletes and for USA Cycling to take their talents and the Search for Speed onto the national stage.
