After this week of men's soccer there were some outstanding players that made it out of the herd and are being recognized for it. There are some surprisingly young players that have pulled forward.
Forwards
The first few to be honorably mentioned are Freshman. Aaron Edwards from UCLA was the winning weapon against LMU. He scored the game winning goal for his team to end the game at 2-1. The other freshman forward that makes the list is Aboubacar Camara from Louisville. In his most recent game he came out with two goals, both back to back in the final four minutes of the game.
Then game the sophmores in the forward department. Ryan Kingsford of Akron was a huge component in the win over Penn State. This win was major for them and scored the last goal with a double assist. They can now move on to the next Big Ten match against Michigan. Then there is Ryan Carmichael from Hoftstra. He was a major help in their 9 game win streak at the moment. He scored the first two goals in his most recent game to get the momentum flowing until they won 4-0 over NIJT.
Midfielders
There are a large group of midfielders that earned their honor to be on this list from their actions in the recent games. The only freshman part of this midfielder crew is Shion Soga from South Florida. He was the first scorer in their game against Memphis. He managed an assist during a free-kick that ended up scoring the game winning goal.
Ben Bender and AJ Chastonay are the two sophmores mentioned in the players of the week. Bender is from Maryland and he went back and forth being strong offensively and defensively. He scored the game-winning goal in overtime this week against Deleware. Chastonay comes from Belmont. His quick reflexes resulted in the winning goal for his team in two matches, against UNCG and Evansville.
Jake Moris, our first Senior, resides at Campbell and was able to score a goal and contributed with an assist to another. He has scored in every one of their last 4 games and scored the only goal against Winthrop to win 1-0. Luis Felipe Fernandez-Salvador from Clemson made a huge play in their match against Duke. They won 3-2 becaused of his quick thinking as he intercepted the ball to score the final goal of the game. Alex Nagy of Vermont has been scoring quite a bit in their past few matches. He served the tying kick in their match against New Hampshire and scored a goal against Hartford to give the team the cushion they needed to win 2-0.
The only redshirt Senior to make the list is Tyrone Mondi of Oregon State. He has proven to be worthy of this position because of his accuracy and consistent outstanding plays during times when the team gains momentum. He scored twice in their game against Saint Mary's and has acrued a total of 6 goals and 4 assists in his season sofar.
These players have all contributed greatly to their teams sucess in the most recent games and they also give their avid fans players to root for while watching. If you watch one of these teams play, look out for these players to decide for yourself whether or not you think they are at the top of their teams.
