What Is the “Search for Greatness”

I'm thrilled to introduce you to our latest initiative, Search for Greatness – a digital performance assessment showcase designed to help you discover your true athletic potential. As a former athlete, I know the importance of a platform that recognizes and rewards your hard work and dedication. That's why we've created this unique opportunity for you to showcase your skills, benchmark against your peers, and unlock new pathways in your sports career..

What is Search for Greatness?

Search for Greatness is the first digital showcase where you can upload structured metrics and videos of your athletic performance to earn a national ranking. We've developed a proprietary algorithm called the G score, which captures the holistic nature of your athleticism across ten key activities, ranging from agility and power to strength and speed. This score is more than just a number – it's a reflection of your overall athletic ability and a way for you to stand out from the crowd.

Why Participate in Search for Greatness?

Participating in Search for Greatness will give you unparalleled visibility and exposure to elite sports organizations, including Olympic and professional teams. This is your chance to show the world what you're made of and take your sports career to the next level. Plus, top performers will be invited to an in-person athletic evaluation at the Joe Gibbs Performance Center, where they can train with some of the best coaches in the industry. Click here to go to the activity page.

How to Participate:

Participating in Search for Greatness is easy. Simply sign up on the GMTM platform and start uploading your performance metrics and videos for each of the ten key activities. Here's a breakdown of what's included:

  1. What is Search For Greatness + Introduce Yourself? Start by telling us who you are and what drives you to be a great athlete. Interview yourself using your cell phone and share your story with the GMTM community.
  2. Agility Test - 5-10-5 This cone drill tests your ability to change direction quickly and efficiently. Set up three cones in a straight line, 5 yards apart, and run from one end to the other, touching each cone as you go. The timer starts when your hand leaves the ground and ends when you cross the finish line.
  3. Power Test—Broad Jump The broad jump measures your lower body's explosive power. Start with your toes behind the line and jump forward as far as you can. Your score is the distance from the starting line to your closest heel.
  4. Power Test - Vertical Jump This test measures your vertical jumping ability. Perform a static vertical jump from a standing position (no stepping into it) and measure your starting "reach" standing flat-footed and your final "reach" height.
  5. Strength Test—Pull-Up Max This test measures your upper body strength and endurance. Perform as many consecutive pull-ups as possible, maintaining proper form throughout.
  6. Strength Test - Squat 3RM The squat 3RM test assesses your lower body strength. Determine the maximum weight you can squat for three repetitions with proper form.
  7. Strength Test - Push Up Max This test measures your upper body endurance. Perform as many consecutive push-ups as possible, maintaining proper form throughout.
  8. Speed Test - 40 Yards The 40-yard dash is a classic test of linear speed. Set up two cones 40 yards apart and sprint from one end to the other. The timer starts when your hand leaves the ground and ends when you cross the finish line.
  9. Speed Test - 20 Yards Similar to the 40-yard dash, this test measures your linear speed over a shorter distance.
  10. Speed Test - 10 Yards This test assesses your initial burst and acceleration over a short distance.

Tips for Success:

To make the most of your Search for Greatness experience, here are a few tips:

  1. Train consistently and focus on improving your performance in the ten key activities.
  2. Record your metrics and videos under the supervision of a certified coach or trainer to earn a "Verified" status.
  3. Engage with the GMTM community and learn from your peers and top-performing athletes.
  4. Showcase your personality and passion for your sport in your athlete profile and video submissions.

The Search for Greatness Leaderboard:

As you submit your performance metrics, you can track your progress on the Search for Greatness leaderboard on the GMTM Mobile App. This real-time ranking system allows you to see how you stack up against other athletes in your age group, sport, and location. Use this as motivation to keep pushing yourself and striving for greatness.

Coaches and Trainers:

Search for Greatness isn't just for athletes—it's also an incredible opportunity for coaches and trainers to showcase their expertise and grow their businesses. As a coach, your athletes' performances will contribute to your ranking, giving you valuable exposure and credibility in the industry. Plus, top-ranking coaches will have the opportunity to create educational content for GMTM's social media channels and gain access to a lead database of athletes looking for expert guidance.

The Path to Greatness:

At GMTM, we believe that every athlete has the potential for greatness. Search for Greatness is more than just a showcase – a movement. It's about empowering you to take control of your athletic journey, to push past your limits, and to discover just how far you can go. As someone who has experienced the highs and lows of athletic competition, I can tell you that the path to greatness is not always easy. But anything is possible with the right tools, support, and mindset.

So what are you waiting for? Sign up for Search for Greatness today and take the first step towards unleashing your full athletic potential. I'll be right there with you, cheering you on every step of the way.
