On Tuesday, High School Football America, the leading site for prep football news and scores around the nation, has extended the deadline for 2021 Academic All-American Team player nominations.
From now until March 31st, High School Football America will be accepting virtual nominations on GMTM for Varsity Football athletes from all 50 states and Washington, D.C. Athletes who have at least a 3.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale are eligible to nominate themselves for the award. Each submission will be reviewed by scouts and coaches affiliated with HSFA and will help selected athletes gain exposure in the recruiting process.
High School Football America is a hub for the sport's trending topics at every level, and their National Top 100 List is the most up-to-date rankings of high school football teams. In 2021, their first of selecting an Academic All-America Team, HSFA honored over 3,000 high school football players from every corner of the U.S. In their second annual list, they've received a similar amount from dozens of athletes from every level in every state - which led to them extending the nomination deadline to the end of March.
The 2022 High School Football America Academic All-America Team is powered by scoutSMART, an analytics software for college coaches that helps to verify an athlete's GPA. Along with the nomination video uploaded virtually to GMTM, HSFB America asks that athletes also add their scoutSMART smartScore. Athletes can claim their score HERE.
Athletes eligible for the 2021 Academic All-American Team will also need to provide the following in the nomination form on GMTM:
- Studentβs Name
- High School
- Position
- Class
- GPA
- Test Scores: ACT/SAT (if available)
- A short description of their contribution on and off the field
In the past few years, high school football has seemingly become bigger than ever. The national notoriety and immediate earning potential of the top 16- and 17-year-old recruits has never been so easy to follow for fans far outside a playerβs school district.
And for the top talent of the past two seasons - like Texas high school football star Quinn Ewers, whose ability and likeness is worth millions before he has seen a college field - obtaining NIL deals and monetizing social media is as much a prerequisite for college sports as taking the ACT.
But then again, not every athlete is able to gain the praise they deserve, especially for the work they do in the classroom and in their community. Itβs as difficult as ever for the most hardworking high school athletes to get their name out there.
High School Football America's 2021 HSFA Academic All-American Team on GMTM is an opportunity for those players to be recognized, regardless of the size of the school or the notoriety of their region.
